Installation of Alson Ceiling Heating
Alson Ceiling Heating Foils are installed between the ceiling covering and an additional insulation layer. Note that the connections must be made by an authorized electrical contractor.
Handle the foils carefully!
- Do
not cut or split the foil!
- Never cut the metallic resistors!
- Do not fold or stretch the foil!.
Fix the battens
Use
fixing battens with a cross section of 44 x 44 mm. Fix the battens parallel in the ceiling construction at a distance of 30/40 cm (centerline to centerline).
The battens must be straight and seasoned. If the timber is not dry enough, the nails might pop out and the cladding could crack when the timber dries and shrinks..
|
The battens must be straight!
Fix the battens parallel!
Do not fix an extension to the side of a batten - extensions must be fixed head by head! |
|
Install the additional insulation
Mount
additional thermal insulation. The best choice is an insulation batt specially designed for this purpose (thickness 45 mm).
We recommend that the vapor barrier be installed over the additional thermal insulation.
|
No air pockets (don't use too wide insulation batts)!
No pipes or electric wires over the additional insulation or between it and the foil!
Use insulation batts with same thickness as the fixing battens! Don't use metallic foil as vapor barriers! |
|
Install the foils
Fix the foil from one end and roll it open.
Check that the fixing areas of the foil match with the battens.
Staple the foil into the battens.
Do not staple through the metallic resistor foils
- only through the clear plastic sheet!
|
Check that there is at least 5 mm between the edge of the batten and the first metallic resistor stripe.
Cut a gap in the batten, if you can feel an electric wire inside colored tape at the end of the foil. |
|
Control
Ceiling heating is controlled with a room thermostat that measures the air temperature in the room. If also floor heating is used, the best result is achieved with a combination thermostat, which measures also the floor temperature.
