Installation of Alson Floor Heating

 

Alson floor heating foils are installed between the floor construction and floor covering so that an air gap is left between the foils and the floor covering. The installation of the foils is very easy - they are fixed either directly onto the floor joists or separate fixing battens.

Be Careful with the Foils!

  • The foils must not be shortened or cut.
  • Never cut the metallic resistors!
  • Do not fold or stretch the foil

Choose the Foils

Choose the foil width according to the distance between floor joists (40 or 60 cm).

The inner distance between the joists hould be 36 or 56 cm, respectively

 

Install the Isolattion Pads

Install the isolation pads tightly between the joists so that their upper surface matches the surface of the joists.

 

 

Fix the Foils

Spread the foil on the isolation pad. Check that the foil is straight and that the metallic resistors are not on top of the joists. Fix the foils into the joists with a stapler.

 

Fix the Battens

Lay battens with a height equal to the air gap on the joists. Fix the battens with screws. 

 
 
 

Check the nominal voltage of each and every foil - it can be 230 V, 110 V or 80 V. Foils with a nominal voltage of 110 V  must ALWAYS be connected in series of two. Similarly, foils with a nominal voltage of 80 V must ALWAYS be connected in series of three. Only identical foils can be connected in any series.

Connect the cables from all foils in a room into a connection box fixed on a wall. A residual current  switch of max. 30 mA must be used in wet rooms - this practise is recommended also in other rooms. Electrical connections must ONLY be be done by a legalized electrician, according to local regulations!

 

 
 

Fix the Floor Covering

Check that all foils operate correctly before fixing the floor covering onto the battens. Be careful not to screw through or otherwise damage the foils.  

 

Control

Floor heating is controlled with a floor thermostat that measures the temperature of the floor. If also ceiling heating is used, the best result is achieved with a combination thermostat, which measures also the ambient room temperature.
